Main Purpose
Become a driving force in delivering the council's waste strategy. This role involves engaging with the community, supporting households and businesses to improve recycling habits, contributing to waste-reduction programmes, and helping deliver sustainable initiatives across Belfast.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage directly with local communities to promote sustainable waste practices and recycling.
- Deliver high-quality customer service by engaging positively with residents and resolving queries effectively.
- Support routine operations such as conducting surveys, using handheld technology, and handling complaints professionally.
- Drive council vehicles when required to support waste-related duties within assigned areas.
- Monitor and manage waste-management materials, including educational resources, and support operations at communal waste facilities.
- Your role will directly support the delivery of environmental and sustainability objectives across the city.
Requirements
Essential Criteria- Licence / Transport: Full valid driving licence or reliable access to transport.
- Experience: Minimum of one year’s experience working directly with the public, including handling complaints and resolving issues. Experience supporting events, basic data collection or monitoring activities.
- Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to explain information clearly to the public. Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Confident IT user, including handheld or mobile devices. Basic understanding of recycling and sustainable waste practices.
