Dundonald International Ice Bowl is seeking motivated and enthusiastic Recreation Assistants to join the team on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027, with the possibility of extension. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy leisure and entertainment environment, supporting the delivery of recreational activities while providing excellent customer service and maintaining high health and safety standards.
Position Details
- Location: Dundonald International Ice Bowl
- Start Date: 18 May 2026
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Shift Pattern: Flexible working required, including evenings and weekends
- Contract Type: Fixed-term until 31 March 2027
- Pay Rate: £13.69 per hour (PAYE)
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of recreational activities including ice stewarding, skate grinding, bowling operations, and Indiana Land duties
- Maintain a safe environment by following health and safety procedures and reporting hazards or incidents
- Carry out cleaning duties and ensure facilities are maintained to a high standard
- Prepare and set up sports and recreational equipment for activities and events
- Deliver excellent customer service to visitors and customers
- Support safeguarding procedures relating to children and vulnerable adults
- Assist with bookings, cash handling, and general operational duties
- Provide support to Senior Recreation Assistants and other team members
- Assist with the induction and training of new staff or work experience students
- Respond appropriately to incidents and provide first aid where required
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 1 years experience working within a leisure centre, sports facility, recreation environment, or similar setting
- Experience dealing directly with members of the public and providing customer service
- Ability to accurately complete records and documentation
- Awareness of safeguarding, child protection, and vulnerable adult procedures
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Willingness to learn ice skating skills as part of the role
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience within the leisure or sports industry
- Knowledge of IT systems and booking systems
- Current First Aid qualification
- Understanding of Health and Safety regulations
