Prime Recruitment Services is currently recruiting for 4 Groundsperson / Gardener / Greenkeeper workers to support the Parks and Amenities team within Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council. This is a temporary role based from 29 Blaris Road, Lisburn, with work carried out across various council locations including public parks, cemeteries, golf courses, sports facilities, playing fields and landscaped areas and open spaces.
The role will involve a wide range of grounds maintenance, horticultural and manual labour duties.
Key duties:- Carrying out general grounds maintenance across parks, cemeteries, golf courses, sports pitches and open spaces
- Grass cutting, hedge trimming, leaf clearing, litter removal and general site tidying
- Planting trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and bulbs as required
- Soil cultivation, fertilising, turfing, seed bed preparation and basic site preparation
- Safe use and daily checks of grounds maintenance equipment and machinery
- Driving large agricultural tractors, vans and trailers where required
- Assisting with cemetery duties, including grave digging and backfilling by hand or mechanical means
- Supporting burial preparation and ensuring cemetery areas are kept clean and tidy
- Dealing appropriately with members of the public and responding to basic customer enquiries
- Following all health and safety procedures, including PPE, manual handling, COSHH and risk assessments
- At least 2 years' employment experience in a horticulture or grounds maintenance environment in at least one of the following areas: Sports pitch maintenance, Cemetery maintenance, Golf course maintenance, Horticultural or floral maintenance
- Good understanding of grounds maintenance work
- Awareness of health and safety requirements
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual outdoor work
- Full current UK driving licence and access to transport, or access to suitable transport if covered under the Disability Discrimination Act
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
- PA1 and PA6A chemical handling and application certificates
- NPTC Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent
This position would suit someone with previous experience in parks, cemeteries, golf courses, sports grounds, landscaping, horticulture, grounds maintenance or outdoor manual labour.
