Prime Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for Senior Recreation Assistants to support operations at Dundonald International Ice Bowl. This is a temporary role where you will assist the manager on duty with the supervision of operational staff, customer care, health and safety, cleanliness and the smooth day-to-day running of the facility.
The Role
As Senior Recreation Assistant, you will provide frontline supervision on a shift basis, helping to coordinate staff duties, support facility users, manage operational tasks and ensure the centre delivers a safe, clean and welcoming service to the public. You will also support the manager on duty with staff cover, duty allocation, customer queries, facility supervision and general operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising Recreation Assistants and supporting the day-to-day deployment of staff
- Allocating duties, arranging staff cover, meal breaks and task rotation
- Assisting with the opening and operation of the facility
- Carrying out key holding duties on a shift basis
- Supporting high standards of customer care across the centre
- Responding to customer queries and complaints, escalating where required
- Monitoring cleanliness standards and reporting issues with cleaning or security contractors
- Helping maintain high standards of health and safety for staff and customers
- Supporting compliance with Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult guidelines
- Handling cash when required
- Preparing reports for the manager on duty
- Assisting with staff inductions, training and recruitment processes
- Supporting special events, functions and operational programmes
- Promoting equality, inclusion and professional standards across the service
Requirements
- 5 GCSEs at grades A-C, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or suitable additional experience if these qualifications are not held
- 3 years' experience as a Leisure/Recreation Assistant or equivalent
- 1 year's experience line managing a team of employees
- A full, current UK driving licence and access to transport, where required for the duties of the post
- Awareness of Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult issues
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety requirements within the leisure industry
- A flexible, professional and customer-focused approach

This is a regulated post and requires a satisfactory Enhanced AccessNI disclosure as part of the pre-employment checks. The post-holder must be prepared to work unsociable hours on a rota basis and may be required to work additional hours depending on operational needs.
