We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Sports Development Officer to join Belfast City Council and play a key role in creating, developing and promoting sporting opportunities for people across Belfast.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on building partnerships, developing innovative programmes and increasing participation in sport and physical activity.
? What will you be doing?
As a Sports Development Officer, you'll have a varied and rewarding role where no two days need to be the same. You'll be responsible for helping turn ideas and opportunities into successful sporting initiatives that benefit the local community.
Your role will include:
Developing and promoting sports and physical activity programmes that encourage inclusive community participation.
Building strong relationships with sports clubs, community organisations, funding bodies and other stakeholders.
Creating new and innovative programmes designed to increase participation in sport, health and physical activity.
Organising and promoting competitions, workshops, courses, club activities and sporting events.
Identifying opportunities linked to local, regional, national and international sporting events.
Supporting organisations with funding applications, while assessing and monitoring grant awards.
Monitoring the performance and impact of sports development initiatives and preparing reports and statistics.
? Supporting the development of new facilities, activities and programmes.
Managing allocated projects and budgets effectively.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, managers and external partners to deliver shared objectives.
The role involves developing and implementing sports development strategies and programmes, with a particular focus on inclusive community involvement.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who can combine professional sports development experience with excellent relationship-building and organisational skills.
You'll need:
A relevant third-level qualification, such as Leisure Management, Business Studies or equivalent, or full current membership of the Institute of Sport and Recreation Management or CIMSPA.
Relevant experience advising and supporting sports clubs and community organisations.
Experience developing sporting partnerships.
Experience sourcing, securing and managing funding for sport.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong organisational and work-planning abilities.
The ability to analyse information and make sound decisions.
Experience of partnership working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
An understanding of budgets, expenditure and performance management.
A full, current driving licence enabling you to drive in Northern Ireland and access to a vehicle for official business, or suitable alternative transport to meet the requirements of the post.
