The Company
We are working with a growing and dynamic logistics business specialising in transport, freight forwarding, and pallet network distribution. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Customer Service Specialist to join their operations team in Reading.
The Role
As a key point of contact for customers, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of transport and freight operations, delivering a high level of service across pallet network and general haulage movements.
Key Responsibilities
- Handling incoming customer enquiries via phone and email in a professional and timely manner
- Managing and updating bookings across transport management systems (TMS)
- Coordinating UK and European pallet network deliveries and collections
- Tracking shipments and providing real-time updates to customers
- Resolving delivery issues, delays, and service queries efficiently
- Processing orders, consignment notes, and transport documentation
- Liaising with drivers, depots, and partner networks to ensure service levels are met
- Maintaining accurate records of customer interactions and job updates
- Supporting the wider operations team with daily logistics activities
- Continuously striving to improve customer satisfaction and service delivery
Experience & Skills Required
- Previous experience within transport, freight, or logistics operations is highly desirable
- Experience working with a pallet network (e.g. Palletways, Pall-Ex, Palletforce, etc.) would be a strong advantage
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
- Confident using transport systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-critical environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A proactive, team-focused attitude with a willingness to learn
