HGV Mechanic/Fitter in Ashford

Our client, a well-established and reputable transport and logistics business, is seeking an experienced HGV Fitter/Mechanic to join their busy Fitters Workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician looking to join a supportive team and work with a varied fleet of vehicles and light machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and diagnostics on heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and light machinery.
• Carry out both major and minor mechanical repairs across the company fleet.
• Complete routine inspections and planned preventive maintenance (PMI).
• Prep vehicles to MOT standards and ensure all work meets DVSA requirements.
• Perform general servicing tasks, including tyre rotation, oil changes, and safety checks.
• Participate in a 24-hour breakdown cover rota.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all repairs, maintenance work, and inspections.

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a HGV mechanic or workshop technician role.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to work to MOT standards.
• Experience servicing and maintaining HGVs is essential.
