This role is based within a Care Home setting and as such an understanding and respect for the needs and privacy of our residents is very important. Covering the Hull area.
Main function of the job: To undertake maintenance in accordance with best practice, according to policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements and government regulations. The position includes a number of responsibilities supporting management through premises audits, monthly testing and any other services required.
Main duties of the role:
- Undertake all monthly, quarterly and yearly testing of the Homes.
- Keeping accurate records and sending reports.
- Undertake all routine maintenance tasks and repairs as requested by Home Manager, Estates Supervisor and Estates Manager.
- Check the maintenance folder for outstanding work to be completed.
- Checking of water temperatures of sinks, showers and baths, monthly, quarterly and 6 monthly.
- Set priorities of maintenance tasks with Estates Supervisors.
- On a monthly basis undertake Fire Alarm tests and emergency lights.
- Cleaning shower heads and waste traps.
- Purchase and collection of consumables and control of maintenance stock.
- Fit shelves and pictures in residents rooms as requested.
- Ensure all fire exits are clear.
- Liaise with trades and contractors working in the services.
- Assist other maintenance personnel.
- Maintain an awareness of health and safety requirements.
Personal Specification:
- Full UK Driving Licence is required as this role requires travel to sites across Scunthorpe and Lincolnshire.
- Experience in building trades an advantage but not essential (Electrical, carpentry, plumbing).
- Able to work autonomously without supervision is a must.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good problem solving skills.
- You will also be subject to a DBS check, and will be required to provide relevant ID in accordance with this check.
