Quality Technician Location: Braintree, Essex Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Annual Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (DOE) Working Hours: 35 hours per week Monday: 9:00am – 5:00pm Tuesday to Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm Friday: 8:30am – 3:00pm (1-hour unpaid lunch break each day) Prime Appointments is proud to be working with a well-established food ingredients manufacturer. This role is based in Braintree, Essex, the company develops, produces, and supplies a wide range of high-quality ingredients to the global food and pharmaceutical industries. You will be required to occasionally work in their head office in Epping. They are now seeking a Quality Technician to join their team, supporting both daily operations and long-term compliance with food safety and quality standards. About the Role This is a varied and hands-on quality role working across two sites so applicants will need a full UK Driving Licence. You\’ll be responsible for maintaining and supporting the business\’s food safety management system and providing direct support on quality assurance, audits, and production processes. Key Responsibilities Performing quality control testing to defined standards. Working in compliance with FSSC 22000, BRCGS v8, HACCP, ISO9001, ISO14001, GMP, Organic, and Kosher Maintaining accurate documentation and records for third-party audits and customer requirements. Conducting GMP, CCP, hygiene, glass and internal audits. Assisting with allergen management, clean-down validation, traceability, and shelf-life studies. Supporting calibration of equipment and maintaining compliance with the company Quality Policy. Monitoring and interpreting regulatory updates from the Food Standards Agency and relevant trade bodies. Providing support to production, investigating non-conformances, and supporting complaint resolution. Occasionally assisting with laboratory and microbiology work at the Epping site Candidate Requirements Experience in a quality or technical function within food, pharma, or a similar regulated industry. Understanding of food safety and quality systems (FSSC 22000, BRCGS, HACCP). High attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping. Organised and proactive with the ability to work across departments. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
