Hours & Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00, 39‑hour work week.
Contract: Permanent role subject to a successful 3‑month temporary probation period.
Position Overview: We are recruiting a Maintenance Fitter to cover on‑site maintenance for a materials manufacturer within the construction industry. This is a permanent, hands‑on role based at a manufacturing site in Wellingborough.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Carry out reactive and planned maintenance on plant and equipment.
- Repair and maintain tools, workshop equipment, buildings and site infrastructure.
- MIG weld and fabricate as part of maintenance and repair work.
- Work on mechanical equipment including cranes, fork trucks, rotator wheels and similar plant.
- Undertake statutory inspections and maintain records for planned maintenance.
- Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to improve site efficiency.
- Use electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems during fault‑finding and repairs.
- Attend health & safety meetings and ensure all work meets safety standards.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions as required.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical maintenance background.
- Proven MIG welding experience.
- Experience working on plant equipment within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Basic electrical knowledge for routine maintenance tasks.
- Comfortable working in a reactive maintenance role.
- Reliable, safety‑conscious and able to work independently.
