Are you an experienced machining professional with strong technical knowledge of multi-spindle lathes, looking to step into a leadership role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are currently recruiting for a Production Supervisor for the machine shop at a world leading engineering firm. Based in Newmarket, this role will see you take ownership of all technical aspects within the Lathe Area, supporting a 24/7 environment consisting of multi-spindle lathes, cold heading equipment, and associated machinery.
Production Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Oversee all technical aspects of the Lathe Area, including machines and ancillary equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve machining and production issues alongside the team.
- Support and work closely with the other supervisors to drive output and performance.
- Provide technical training and support to operators within the department.
- Liaise with production control and other departments to meet business requirements.
- Support service engineers during maintenance and equipment servicing.
- Identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
- Assist production when required to maintain output levels.
- Ensure smooth operation across a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
About You:
- Proven experience working with multi-spindle lathe machines and associated equipment.
- 5-10 years experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a shift-based or 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Confident supporting and developing team members.
- Highly organised with a proactive, 'can-do' attitude.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including supporting different shifts when required.
Desirable Experience:
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or senior technical role.
- Background in high-output precision engineering environments.
