CAD Technician | Colchester area | Up to £40,000 + potential bonus An established UK manufacturer of GRP composite products, with more than 25 years in the market, is looking for a CAD Technician to join its Rail team. They supply rail, infrastructure and industrial customers in the UK and overseas, with design and manufacture in-house. You'll produce rail and structural drawings for GRP platforms, walkways and access structures, and act as the link between Sales, Engineering and Operations. The CAD Technician role Produce 2D and 3D general arrangement, fabrication and installation drawings for GRP platforms, walkways, access systems and structures Work from client specifications, surveys and existing drawings, and review third-party drawings for clashes, omissions and queries Check drawings prepared by colleagues or external designers against project specifications, Network Rail standards and British Standards Support Sales at enquiry and quotation stage, advising on technical requirements, risks and what can be manufactured and installed Support IDC and IDR meetings: prepare information, log and respond to comments, and see actions through to close-out Maintain drawing revisions and document control Help build a library of standard details and technical responses Attend client meetings, design workshops and site as required What you'll need Background in a rail, structural, civil or engineering design environment Experience producing detailed fabrication drawings CAD competence: AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks or similar Ability to read and interpret specifications and engineering drawings Good attention to detail and the ability to manage several projects at once Helpful, but not all essential Network Rail or other UK rail project experience, and knowledge of Network Rail standards Experience with IDC/IDR or similar design review processes Knowledge of GRP or composite structures Understanding of structural design principles, load requirements and CDM Regulations 2015 Experience working with contractors, consultants or infrastructure clients What's on offer Company profit-share bonus, with the potential to earn up to 20% of basic salary 33 days' holiday including bank holidays, with long-service days building up to a maximum of five, and the option to buy up to five more days a year Company pension scheme Occupational health and wellbeing support Salary sacrifice schemes Role-specific training and development Regular one-to-one reviews and company social events If you're a CAD Technician with rail, structural or fabrication drawing experience apply today! #Tier1
