An established engineering manufacturer based in Colchester, Essex is looking to recruit a Mechanical Fitter to join their busy production team. This is a hands-on role assembling metal components and structures within a clean, organised workshop environment. You will be working from engineering drawings, using a wide range of hand and power tools, and supporting the movement of materials and finished assemblies around the site. MUST HAVE COUNTERBALANCE.
Key Responsibilities- Mechanical assembly of metal components and engineered products
- Working from technical and engineering drawings
- Using hand tools and power tools confidently and safely
- Assisting with fitting, adjustment, and final assembly work
- Operating a counterbalance forklift to move materials and components
- Maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and workmanship
- Supporting general workshop and production activities as required
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Assembly Technician, or similar engineering role or semi-skilled metalwork position
- Strong experience using hand tools and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- In-date Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential)
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
- Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- £13-£14 per hour depending on experience
- Day shift, Monday to Friday
- Temp-to-perm opportunity with long-term prospects
