A client of ours in the Haverhill area is recruiting a Health & Safety Assistant to join their team. This is a temporary-to-permanent position, working either part-time or full-time depending on the candidate, and paying between £15.00 and £20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Your key duties in this Health & Safety Assistant role will include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining and updating health & safety records, policies, procedures and documentation
- Assisting with the completion and review of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
- Monitoring staff training, certification records and compliance requirements
- Conducting workplace inspections and assisting with internal audits
- Monitoring corrective actions and ensuring these are followed up and completed
- Liaising with managers, employees and external contractors regarding health & safety matters
- Assisting with ensuring compliance with current UK health & safety legislation and company policies
- Providing general administrative, document management and reporting support relating to health & safety
Skills and experience required to be considered for this role:
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within an engineering or construction environment
- Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work with people at all levels
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- NEBOSH General Certificate, or working towards, would be desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely or Working Safely would be desirable
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or construction environment would be advantageous
- Knowledge of CDM regulations would be desirable
