We are currently recruiting for a 3D Draughtsperson to join an established engineering and fabrication business based in Harwich, Essex. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company known for delivering advanced design-led engineering solutions across structural steelwork, acoustic systems, offshore projects and bespoke fabrication.

About the Role

This role would suit an experienced CAD / design professional with strong 3D modelling capability, ideally from a steel fabrication, manufacturing or heavy engineering background. You will be working within an in-house design team producing detailed 2D and 3D CAD models to support the manufacture of bespoke steelwork, acoustic systems and engineered structures. The role will involve close collaboration with workshop teams, project managers and engineers to ensure designs are accurate, efficient and fully buildable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating detailed 2D and 3D CAD models for fabrication and manufacturing
  • Producing manufacturing drawings and technical documentation
  • Working closely with engineers and workshop teams to ensure design accuracy
  • Supporting project delivery from concept through to completion
  • Amending and updating drawings based on technical requirements
  • Ensuring designs meet safety, quality and industry standards
  • Assisting with design optimisation and problem-solving
  • Working on bespoke steelwork, acoustic systems and structural assemblies

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience as a 3D CAD Draughtsperson / Design Engineer
  • Strong ability using 3D modelling software (e.g. SolidWorks)
  • Experience within fabrication, steelwork, or heavy engineering environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Good communication skills and ability to work within a team

Desirable (for top salary bracket)

  • Experience in structural steel, acoustic systems or offshore engineering projects
  • Knowledge of CFD or advanced engineering design principles
  • Experience producing design packages for manufacturing and installation
  • Understanding of workshop fabrication processes
