THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi Modal Export Administrator to join the team in Basildon. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and commercially minded freight forwarding professional with experience across Air, Ocean and Road exports. You will play a key role in the day-to-day management of export shipments, ensuring customers receive a high level of service while shipments are handled efficiently, accurately and in compliance with all relevant regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the daily administration and coordination of export bookings and enquiries.
  • Coordinate multi-modal export shipments across Air, Ocean and Road freight.
  • Ensure customer requirements and expectations are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Arrange collections, overseas deliveries and customs documentation.
  • Liaise with customers, hauliers, carriers, overseas agents, 3PL providers, customs authorities and internal departments.
  • Create and manage shipments on LBase.
  • Ensure all shipment information and costs are accurately recorded against jobs in LBase.
  • Complete export invoicing accurately and within required timescales.
  • Negotiate competitive rates with suppliers and logistics providers.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records, documentation and compliance information.
  • Ensure export shipments comply with relevant customs regulations and international shipping requirements.
  • Liaise with the Accounts Department regarding sales, costs and invoicing queries.
  • Support the sales team with B2B sales activity, customer enquiries, lead generation and shipment updates.
  • Assist with developing new business opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers.
  • Work closely with the Branch Manager and wider team to maximise efficiency and profitability.
  • Assist colleagues during busy periods and provide cover for other areas of the business when required.
  • Assist with the training of new staff.
  • Contribute to improving operational and supply chain processes.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who has a solid background in freight forwarding and export operations, with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. You will be confident communicating with customers and international partners and have a good understanding of the operational, documentation and financial aspects of export freight forwarding.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in export freight forwarding.
  • Experience handling multi-modal shipments across Air, Ocean and Road.
  • Good understanding of export booking processes and documentation.
  • Knowledge of customs procedures, tariff classifications and duty/VAT principles.
  • Experience liaising with overseas agents, carriers, hauliers and logistics providers.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent data-entry skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of freight costs and profitability.
  • Experience negotiating rates with suppliers is advantageous.
  • Experience with LBase or similar freight forwarding systems would be beneficial.
  • CRM and B2B sales support experience would also be advantageous.
  • A proactive, professional approach with a strong focus on customer service.
