Our client is a manufacturing company who have been established for over 80 years. They have a rare opportunity for a forward-thinking Operations Manager to support the Managing Director with the day to day running of the company and drive the business forward. The Operations Manager must be happy working in an office-based role as part of the management team in a busy, fast-paced engineering/manufacturing environment.
Duties
- Support the Managing Director with the day to day running of the company including management of staff (holidays, lateness and disciplinary etc.)
- Be responsible for all pre-production processes
- Dealing with customer enquiries, producing quotes from customer specifications through to launching jobs and or ordering materials
- Work from engineering drawings to advise clients on product application
- Work closely with the manufacturing team and advise on manufacturing processes
- Be responsible for Health and Safety for the site
- Liaison with clients and coordination of client projects
- Dealing with subcontractors
- Assisting with activities for the generation of new business and considering the best way to generate sales
Skills & Experience
- Strong sales, negotiation and communication skills are prerequisite for this role
- Must have a good understanding of engineering drawings
- Preferably Apprentice Trained or qualified in an Engineering discipline
- A solid understanding of the product manufacturing and engineering process is necessary
- Must be commercially minded with problem solving skills and the ability to be hands-on when required
- Must have the strategic knowledge but still enjoy and be able to be hands-on
- Skilled multi-tasker, with excellent organisational skills who thrives in a fast-paced role and can prioritise workloads
- Excellent communicator and relationship builder at all levels, both internally and externally – a natural people person
- A proactive problem solver, with the ability foresee problems and drive solutions is a must
Benefits
- 8am to 5pm Monday to Thursday with hour lunch and 8am to 1pm on Friday
- 28 days holiday rising to 34 days with service, including bank holidays
