We are currently recruiting for a Coachbuilder / Fabricator to join a growing manufacturer in Halstead. This is a full time, permanent opportunity offering varied fabrication work, and the chance to manufacture in a specialised, niche industry. This role would suit an experienced Coachbuilder, Trailer Builder, or Fabricator who enjoys producing high-quality vehicle bodies and structural fabrications.
About the role:
Working within a busy fabrication workshop, you will play a key role in manufacturing bespoke trailers and commercial vehicle bodies from raw materials through to completed structures. This is a true Coachbuilder position, involving chassis fabrication, body construction, structural assembly and MIG welding throughout the build process. You will be working from technical engineering drawings to fabricate steel frameworks, assemble body structures, fit floors, doors and panels.
Key Responsibilities
- Building bespoke trailer chassis and vehicle body structures
- Fabricating steel frameworks from raw materials
- MIG welding mild steel and stainless-steel components
- Reading and working from technical engineering drawings
- Measuring, marking out, cutting, drilling and shaping steel
- Building floors, wall frames, roofs and structural supports
- Installing doors, hinges, flooring, panelling and body hardware
