Are you an experienced Project Engineer with a background in engineering maintenance, site improvement projects and working within a process environment? I'm recruiting for a Project Engineer to join an established engineering business based in the Colchester area. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a multi-disciplinary background to manage improvement projects, maintenance activities and engineering solutions from concept through to implementation.

The role will involve working closely with engineering, maintenance and operational teams to deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective projects while supporting continuous improvement across the site.

As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing engineering projects and improvement activities from concept through to implementation and commissioning
  • Supporting maintenance and reliability activities across mechanical, electrical and control systems
  • Developing engineering solutions, including Management of Change (MOC) and CAPEX proposals
  • Maintaining engineering documentation including drawings, procedures, maintenance plans and equipment records
  • Managing contractors, ensuring safe working practices and compliance with health & safety requirements
  • Supporting procurement, project budgets and continuous improvement initiatives

To be considered for the Project Engineer role, you will need:

  • HNC / Level 4 qualification or equivalent in engineering or maintenance
  • Experience within engineering projects, maintenance management or reliability improvement
  • A multi-disciplinary engineering background (mechanical, electrical or control systems)
  • Experience working within a process, manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Understanding of health & safety standards and engineering compliance requirements
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with engineering teams, contractors and suppliers
