Hours: 5 days out of 7 (including weekend working, with flexible days off in the week based on business needs)
Prime Appointments are working with a fast-growing and highly successful business in the Chelmsford area to recruit an Assistant Warehouse Manager. The Assistant Warehouse Manager Role:
Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, you will support the management of warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and high standards across all areas. You will be actively involved on the warehouse floor, working closely with the team while also taking on supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Warehouse Manager in the day-to-day running of the operation
- Take a hands-on approach to warehouse duties, leading by example on the shop floor
- Supervise and coordinate warehouse staff to ensure productivity targets are met
- Ensure smooth goods in, storage, and dispatch processes
- Operate Reach and Counterbalance forklifts as part of daily duties
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and operational compliance
- Liaise with couriers and support the coordination of outbound deliveries
- Help drive continuous improvements in line with business growth and new initiatives
- Step up in the Warehouse Manager's absence when required
Requirements
- Previous experience in a warehouse supervisory or team leader role
- Background within a 3PL (third-party logistics) environment is highly desirable
- Experience working with perishable goods would be advantageous
- Valid Reach and Counterbalance forklift licences (refreshers can be provided if required)
- Strong hands-on approach with the ability to work operationally and manage simultaneously
- Good understanding of warehouse operations and workflow
- Strong problem-solving skills with both a proactive and reactive mindset
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment and contribute to business growth
