We are currently recruiting for an experienced Centreless Grinder to join a leading aerospace engineering manufacturer based in Southend-on-Sea. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled machinist with experience in manual centreless grinding to join a precision engineering environment producing high-quality aerospace components to tight tolerances.

You will be responsible for setting and operating centreless grinding machines, supporting production output, and ensuring consistent quality standards are met.

  • 4 day working week (Monday to Thursday)
  • 37 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate manual centreless grinding machines
  • Work with machinery such as Wickman Scrivener, Ghiringhelli, Cincinnati and Tschudin
  • Manufacture precision aerospace components to tight tolerances
  • Carry out first-off and in-process inspections
  • Support secondary operations including deburring, drilling, marking and thread rolling
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards and health & safety procedures
  • Maintain production efficiency and support output and KPI targets
  • Reduce scrap and rework through effective set-up and process control

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Centreless Grinder in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Experience with manual centreless grinding machines is essential
  • Aerospace experience is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong measurement and inspection skills (micrometers, gauges, etc.)
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong team working and communication skills

This role would suit candidates with experience as: Centreless Grinder, Precision Grinder, Manual Grinder, Cylindrical Grinder, Aerospace Machinist.
