A long‑established precision engineering business supplying aerospace and defence is entering a major growth phase and is looking for a Production Control and Materials Manager with strong systems discipline and a solid engineering/manufacturing background. This is a key operational role ensuring accurate material control, AS9100 traceability and smooth production flow across a busy CNC machining environment.
The Role
- Manage all goods inward/outward activities and documentation
- Ensure accurate ERP/MRP booking, BOM structures, allocations and job transactions
- Maintain full AS9100 traceability, material certs and paperwork control
- Issue materials, consumables and bought‑out parts to production
- Support job progression through machining and subcontract processes
- Coordinate subcontract operations (heat treatment, plating, anodising, grinding etc.)
- Act as the final sense‑check for dispatch, paperwork, quantities, traceability and presentation
- Monitor stock accuracy, shortages and replenishment
- Lead stock counts and cycle counting
- Assist with month‑end WIP reviews and reporting
- Drive improvements across stores and production control
What We're Looking For
- Experience in precision engineering, CNC machining, aerospace, defence or subcontract manufacturing
- Strong ERP/MRP system experience (essential)
- Extremely organised, disciplined and detail‑focused
- Strong understanding of stock control, traceability and quality documentation
- Excellent computer literacy (Excel, ERP/MRP, manufacturing systems)
- Strong people skills, able to work across multiple departments and personalities
- Proactive, energetic approach, drives jobs through the system, not just processes transactions
- Clear communicator with good common sense and the confidence to challenge issues
- Takes ownership of problems and follows them through to resolution
