We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic project team on the outskirts of Colchester. This role offers hands-on involvement throughout the full project lifecycle, from cost estimation and tendering to financial oversight, site liaison, and project completion. With a focus on accuracy, value for money, and practical solutions, you'll play a key role in ensuring engineering projects are delivered on time and on budget.
The Role
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and tender documentation
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis to support project viability
- Monitor budgets, project cash flow, and financial performance throughout the lifecycle
- Advise on contracts, claims, disputes, and commercial terms with contractors and suppliers
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain financial control
- Visit sites across the UK to review progress and provide cost guidance
- Champion innovation by supporting the development of financial tools and processes
Person Specification
Essential
- Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, RICS/CIOB accredited or working towards
- Proven experience in UK construction projects, cost control, and reporting
- Knowledge of NEC, JCT, or FIDIC contracts
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Right to work permanently in the UK
