We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic project team on the outskirts of Colchester. This role offers hands-on involvement throughout the full project lifecycle, from cost estimation and tendering to financial oversight, site liaison, and project completion. With a focus on accuracy, value for money, and practical solutions, you'll play a key role in ensuring engineering projects are delivered on time and on budget.

The Role

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and tender documentation
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis to support project viability
  • Monitor budgets, project cash flow, and financial performance throughout the lifecycle
  • Advise on contracts, claims, disputes, and commercial terms with contractors and suppliers
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain financial control
  • Visit sites across the UK to review progress and provide cost guidance
  • Champion innovation by supporting the development of financial tools and processes

Person Specification

Essential

  • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, RICS/CIOB accredited or working towards
  • Proven experience in UK construction projects, cost control, and reporting
  • Knowledge of NEC, JCT, or FIDIC contracts
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Right to work permanently in the UK
