An experienced, practical Quality Supervisor is needed for a specialist bespoke fire door manufacturing business, with the opportunity to progress into the Quality Manager role as part of a planned handover from the current post holder, who is retiring. The handover period runs for up to a year, giving genuine support and mentoring before taking on full ownership of quality standards. You’ll work with production, technical and operations teams to identify issues, investigate root causes, and drive continuous improvement, supported by the outgoing Quality Manager throughout the transition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve quality standards, procedures and inspection methods across the business
  • Investigate non-conformances, customer concerns and product defects, and implement corrective/preventive actions
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and relevant certification requirements, including audit preparation
  • Monitor and report quality costs (scrap, rework, returns, remedial works)
  • Coach operators and team leaders on quality standards and inspection requirements
  • Liaise professionally with customers, suppliers and contractors on quality matters

About You

  • Previous experience in a quality role (Quality Supervisor, Quality Inspector, Quality Coordinator or similar)
  • Experience in joinery, fire door manufacture, woodworking or a similar manufacturing and production environment
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001, auditing or QMS advantageous; Lean/Six Sigma a bonus
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Comfortable in a factory environment, with flexibility to visit customer sites
