Position Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Skilled Assembler to join a leading aerospace manufacturer based in Basildon. This is a hands-on precision engineering role working on aircraft components to customer-defined specifications and aerospace quality standards. As a Skilled Assembler you will be responsible for the assembly and finishing of sheet metal and structural components, using a range of hand tools, air tools, and specialist measuring equipment.
Duties
- Assemble aircraft components to engineering drawings and specifications
- Carry out solid riveting using hand and air riveting tools
- Use air tools including drills, rivet guns, and rivet presses
- Adjust and fit sheet metal parts during assembly
- Apply sealants as required
- Perform visual inspection of completed products
- Use verniers, calipers and other precision measuring tools
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping
- Work to output and delivery targets
- Support continuous improvement across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People (SQCDP)
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in aerospace or precision engineering assembly
- Strong background in sheet metal work and solid riveting
- Current experience using air tools (drills, rivet guns, rivet presses)
- Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience working with different materials and finishes
- Skilled in the use of verniers and specialist measuring equipment
- High attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
- Good problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
