An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principle Engineer to join a globally recognised aerospace company. This role offers the chance to work on development projects within a high-performance engineering team, supporting innovative product design. If you're an experienced mechanical engineer with a passion for actuation and gear systems, we'd like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage internal technical projects in line with strategic product development goals
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure effective project delivery
- Provide technical guidance and develop internal engineering capabilities
- Report to the Engineering Manager on all aspects of assigned projects including timelines, quality, deliverables, and costs
- Support the preparation of proposals and participate in customer and supplier meetings
- Coordinate team members working on specific programmes
- Support and participate in product certification and qualification test activities
- Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation including certification applications
- Approve engineering drawings and modifications using CAD (Creo) and data management systems
- Contribute to the development and implementation of engineering tools and processes
- Identify opportunities for and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in design reviews and other technical meetings
- Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with all health and safety policies
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc / BEng / MSc in Mechanical Design Engineering or similar
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (preferably Creo) and the ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics
- Strong understanding of engineering principles including materials, mechanisms, and electromechanical systems
- Extensive experience in the design of electromechanical mechanisms, machines, and actuators
- In-depth knowledge of BS8888 drawing standards and GD&T
- Strong understanding of bearings, lubrication, and tight-tolerance design
- Solid background in gear and actuation system design preferred
- Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing is advantageous
- Experience in the design, testing, and certification is ideal
