Are you a qualified Electrical Engineer looking for a hands-on role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are working with a global leader in the production of specialist materials, and they are looking to bring in an experienced engineer to support and improve the reliability of their electrical systems. This is a day-shift position offering the chance to join a well-established team at a key production facility based in the Colchester area.
You will be working with advanced manufacturing and production machinery, including 3-phase motors, PLCs, and VFDs, and playing a key role in both reactive and preventive maintenance activities.
The Role:
- Carry out routine maintenance, react quickly to plant breakdowns, and help improve control systems across the site.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing system efficiency and operational uptime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out inspections and planned maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Respond to breakdowns and implement effective, lasting solutions.
- Diagnose and repair faults in PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motors, and other electrical components.
- Support installation and commissioning of new electrical systems and controls.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and support documentation compliance.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical safety regulations.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in a call-out rota and support urgent repair work as needed.
What We Are Looking For:
- 18th Edition Certification (essential).
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance, particularly within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong skills in PLC/HMI diagnostics and ladder logic interpretation.
- Hands-on experience with VFDs, 3-phase systems, and automation controls.
- Excellent problem-solving ability and fault-finding skills.
- Confidence working from electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Understanding of LV circuits and lighting/power distribution.
