To provide whole‑school ICT support to staff and students, ensuring that teaching, learning and administrative functions operate effectively. The postholder will support the ISS team in maintaining ICT systems and infrastructure while developing the technical skills and experience required to progress within a school IT support role.

Salary Details: The salary is NJC Scale 3 (£24,796‑£25,185). It is a full year role with 26 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) and a view to an extension after this period.

Reporting to Senior Lead: ICT & Network Operations

Principal Duties

  • Technical support: Deliver an approachable, positive, responsive and proactive service at all times. Proactively maintain and complete repairs to IT equipment, diagnose faults and undertake corrective actions. Support the maintenance and development of school systems and networks under the direction of the Senior Lead: ICT & Network Operations. Assist with e‑mail, internet and related activities including development and maintenance of the school’s web site under the direction of the Senior Lead: ICT & Network Operations. Support the regular maintenance of network and file management under the direction of the Senior Lead: ICT & Network Operations. Support the maintenance of the ICT inventory of hardware under the direction of the Senior Lead: ICT & Network Operations. Assist with maintaining security in relation to the ICT network and in taking action to prevent misuse of the network and ICT equipment.
  • User support: Provide software support for all users by being a competent user of ICT tools and software and, where appropriate, producing user‑friendly written or video documentation. Provide on‑the‑spot advice to other members of staff in relation to fixing ICT problems to ensure maximum availability and usage of equipment. Provide classroom support to teachers using the computer systems, including informing teaching staff of any known software or hardware problems and loading the printers with appropriate consumables, to enable the staff to meet the needs of the curriculum. Assist in the promotion of ICT skills in the school by providing advice, guidance and support to staff. Provide support for all school examinations, ensuring all technical requirements are accurately logged in the ISS calendar and that all systems and equipment are fully prepared to enable exams to run efficiently and without disruption.
  • Strategy: Support the ISS team in exploring new ICT tools for learning and to support action research projects involving the trial and implementation of new technologies for learning in the classroom and via the Internet. Explore and promote the implementation of systems to streamline and increase the effectiveness of school systems.

Professional Responsibilities: Be aware of and follow school policies and procedures. Undertake professional development and respond to the changing needs of the role. Be aware of confidential issues and keep confidences appropriate. Some out of hours working will be required to support school events, such as open evenings, which take place throughout the year.
