Come and join our wonderful team at Exascale, Telford. We are recruiting a Technical Support Apprentice – Level 4.

Role Overview

To support, document and enhance both the core and edge networks operated and owned by Exascale Ltd. This role will also cover integration of billing systems with the network equipment for client/end user billing and authorisation of use. Enhance operational support systems (OSS) with development into AI control of day-to-day monitoring. The technical support apprentice will be a key member of the company which ensures the long-term commitment of Exascale to this person. Additional training above the apprenticeship course will involve equipment manufacturers courses on specific items used within the networks along with bespoke software training courses. Exascale’s network is located across the UK with two sites in Europe (Amsterdam & Frankfurt). The apprentice will be required to visit some of these locations to perform patching, upgrades, hardware additions or removals. Site visits may also be required for fault finding assistance.

Technical Stuff

Exascale’s core network is built mainly on Cisco and Aristo Switches, Routers and Firewalls functioning on OSPF, BGP, DHCP protocols. VLANS and firewalls with authentication servers integrated to the radius billing platform. Management systems operate on Windows & Linux, Telnet, SSH and web access allow remote management of all the various components in the core and edge networks.

Key Projects

  • Discover and document the core network building documentation to ISO9001 and ISO27001 standards.
  • Discover and document the edge network again, building documentation according to the ISO9001 and ISO27001 standards.
  • Work with the network architect to develop and future proof the core network.
  • Play a key role in moving network operations towards AI systems and integration.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate must have motivation, enthusiasm, no attitude, thirst to learn, good communication skills both written and verbal, hands-on, logical, well presented (for customer visits and meetings), python, windows, Linux, fibre, server, website, network, AI. The ideal person should be able to drive or have the ability to drive. Not scared of web cams for teams/zoom calls.

Academic

Good Maths & English (ability to demonstrate both, not necessarily after perfect grades as the company understands there are rocket scientists out there who cannot perform in exam situations). Physics, science, IT bias, ability to code is an advantage but not essential. The applicants should also be able to pass basic checks (UBR or BS7858) and social media checking.

Salary Details

Salary starting at £18.5k during the probationary period increasing to £19.5k then increasing against performance targets. This role is based in the Exascale Head Office, Hortonwood, Telford. Exascale is an equal opportunity employer.
