Mansion House Surgery is looking for a dynamic and dedicated Bank Healthcare Assistant to join our busy Practice and Clinical Team. This role will specifically support HCA clinics. The role is varied and includes seeing patients to take bloods, blood pressure, patients with hypertension, providing flu vaccinations and providing patients with 24 hour ECGs. Training in some of the areas would be provided.
Main duties of the job
- Working under the direct supervision of the lead practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
- Assist the practice clinical team with:
- ECG recording
- Chaperoning duties
- Supporting Sonographer in Ultrasound clinics
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
- Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
- Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
- Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

Mansion House Surgery is a 7,600 patient training practice based in the centre of Whitehaven. The building is a Georgian built town house which has been structurally modified to provide clinical space and facilities. Whitehaven is an historic seaside town with pockets of deprivation which has experienced regeneration developments over the last few years.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Phlebotomy accredited
- Immunisation and Vaccination accredited
Experience
- Experience of working directly in a healthcare assistant role, adult health and social care, learning support or public health/health improvement (including unpaid work)
- Experience working within a GP Practice
- Demonstrates an understanding of Clinical Governance skill
- Health and Safety Awareness
- Basic first aid knowledge
