Working as part of the Carlisle Primary Care Network (PCN), you will work within a GP practice under the supervision of the senior practice nurse lead and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. The HSW will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of programmes of patient care, subject to training.

Main duties of the job:

  • New patient health checks and NHS health checks
  • ECG recording
  • To give flu vaccines and immunisations
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs and nurses
  • Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
  • Cleaning of clinical areas within remit of role
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
  • Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
  • Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
  • To cover extended access and work some evenings and Saturdays (rota)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate and supportive team, working with patients to deliver high quality and safe care. Promoting the best evidence-based care for our client population and the proactive provision of preventable health care. We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, caring and proficient Healthcare Support Workers as part of our nursing and practice team. These roles will be based within one of the PCNs GP practices and will work under the supervision of the senior practice nurse lead and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. The healthcare workers will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of programmes of patient care such as and subject to training.
