We are a forward-thinking and progressive PCN in the Lake District looking to recruit a PCN Administrator to cover maternity leave for twelve months. The role is to be based at Maryport Health Services & Castlegate & Derwent Surgery. This vacancy is advertised with a view to a successful candidate being able to start in January 2026. This will allow for crossover with the current postholder before maternity leave commences. Please note this advert may close early if sufficient applications have been received. This role is a fixed term position but the Practices would be prepared to retain the successful candidate post-maternity leave, in a permanent position at either/both Practices.
Main duties of the job
- Support the PCN Management team, covering two GP Practices.
- Attend meetings, minute taking, assisting with projects, assisting with data quality, extended access monitoring of provision, support with marketing, support with digital transformation projects, preparation of PCN reports and submissions.
Previous experience of working within the NHS, use of EMIS and Ardens is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Job responsibilities
- Assist with PCN finances ARRS claims.
- Support compilation of PCN finance from remittances and PCSE statements.
- Liaise with practices to ensure transactions for PCN are processed.
- Attend meetings on behalf of PCN, take minutes and report back to PCN Board.
- Running searches and collating results in Excel for data analysis purposes.
- Involvement in data collection to meet service requirements.
- Import of Ardens searches to EMIS, data updates and upload to Ardens Manager.
- Supporting PCN Marketing.
- Filing and photocopying as required.
- Ensure admin room is tidy, risk free and patient confidentiality is maintained at all times following the practices clean desk policy.
- Communicate effectively with other team members and with patients and carers.
- Recognize peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly.
- Work under direct supervision of the PCN Digital Transformation and Ops Lead.
- Ability to prioritise duties to ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Attendance and completion of mandatory training as directed by the practice.
- Adhere to practice policies and procedures.
- Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.

Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent).
- Business Administration NVQ Level 2 or above.
Experience
- Experience of working in busy administration environment.
- Minute taking.
- Previous experience of working in a general practice environment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Ability to work independently and part of team.
- Good numerical skills.
- Good MS Office Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.
- ECDL or equivalent IT qualification.
- Knowledge of EMIS Web.
- Knowledge of Ardens.
