Wootton Vale Healthy Living Centre are looking to welcome a long term GP locum to join our team for initially 2 months with the possibility of an extension. We work over two sites: Wootton Vale (MK43 9JJ) and Shortstown (MK42 0GS) surgeries. Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to support and care for a diverse patient group.

We have recently gone over to a total triage system, meaning all appointments are triaged by the triage GP and patients are sent a link to book an appointment with the most appropriate clinician. We are a SystmOne practice, paper light and use AccuRx text-messaging. Our appointments are a blend of face-to-face and telephone appointments.

  • Routine sessions - Wootton Vale or Shortstown surgery: 16 patients in the morning and 16 patients in the afternoon.
  • Appointment length can be 10 minutes or 12 minutes depending on preference.
  • No home visits.
  • We can be flexible with start and finish times; however, the latest start time is 9am and the earliest finish time is 5.30pm.
  • Free parking at both sites.
  • No additional admin or scripts.
  • £600 for the day (all-inclusive).

Main duties of the job: The role will include all general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

About us: We are a friendly surgery with a list size of over 18,000 patients, over two sites, Wootton Vale and branch site Shortstown Surgery. We have good appointment access, which translates to happy patients, and a strong teamwork ethos, that includes an established clinical pharmacy team, GPs, nurses, physician associates, clinical liaison and admin teams. We are also a tier-2 sponsoring practice and would support any applicants requiring a tier 2 visa.

Our practice ethos is to provide traditional levels of patient care and friendliness, through innovation, supported by the latest technology. We work closely with our community partners and with the other GP practices within our primary care network.

  • 3 GP partners, Salaried GPs, and Physician Associate.
  • A multi-skilled nursing team, including nurse prescribers.
  • Clinical pharmacists, a pharmacy technician, and prescription administrator.
  • Dedicated management, clinical support, administrative and reception teams.

Person Specification:

  • Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services.
  • Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date.
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
  • Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.

Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration.
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate).
  • Be on the NHSE medical performers list.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
