Little St John's Surgery is seeking an experienced dispenser to join us on a part‑time basis, working the following shifts:

  • Monday 9:30 - 18:30
  • Tuesday 9:30 - 18:30
  • Saturday 8:30 - 11:30 (alternate weeks)

Flexibility is needed, to cover for colleagues' holiday and sickness, as required. Working closely with the dispensary lead you will be involved in all areas of our busy dispensary including dispensing, stock control and record keeping, liaising with GPs, patients and other members of practice staff.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide a comprehensive dispensing service to approved patients on the practice list.
  • Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription.
  • Ensure that the procedures governing charging and exemption for prescriptions is carried out in accordance with statutory obligations.
  • Keep up to date with new medications, their actions and side effects.
  • Operate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the practice.
  • Ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions.
  • Maintain full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions incorporating the use of computers when available and appropriate.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 2, or hold an equivalent dispensing qualification.

Experience

We are seeking an experienced dispenser who is courteous, sympathetic and professional. Dispensing experience is essential.
