Paramedic or FCP Paramedic in Stowmarket

Mendlesham Medical Group are looking for an enthusiastic Paramedic who wants to develop their career within a supportive General Practice environment. This position is offered on a full-time basis. The FCP Roadmap is an essential part of the role, but you will be helped and supported along the way. We will provide structured supervision, mentoring, protected learning and access to our established practice education programme for the Medical Students, GP Registrars and the rest of the Practice team. Our aim is to help you develop confidently into a highly skilled and autonomous member of our clinical team, while ensuring that experienced clinical support is always close at hand. You'll be able to prioritise work-life balance, well-being and professional development, in a friendly, well-run and innovative environment.

You will be required to travel between our sites (4 miles apart) and for home visits within our catchment area. On occasion you may be required to work collaboratively with our neighbouring practices to aid with cover for home visits.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

• Urgently respond to referrals and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact by attending to patients, according to patients’ needs either in the practice or patient homes;
• Support, and continue the development of, an on-the-day emergency patient service in the practice;
• Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in both emergency situations and telephone triage, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history;
• Evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking, and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral;
• Review the effectiveness of the treatment provided, making changes where necessary to improve patient outcomes;
• Maintain accurate clinical records in an efficient manner.

The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, as you will work alongside fellow professionals within the practice in support of one another.

If you are a Paramedic or FCP Paramedic wanting a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will require the following:

• Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care;
• Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients;
• Be able to evaluate patient care confidently;
• Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines;
• Exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills;
• Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively.
