About the Role
Lister House Surgery located in Hatfield, are seeking receptionists/administrators to join their friendly practice team. These positions can be offered on a full or part-time basis working various shift patterns. Morning shifts would start at 8am and afternoon shifts would be 12pm - 6.30pm. Full days would be 8am - 6.30pm. Hours and days can be discussed at interview but we are flexible so please do apply.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- Process appointments, visits and telephone consultations as required.
- Register new patients.
- Process repeat prescriptions.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
- Update internal systems.
About the Candidate
General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated team player who has customer service/patient experience, offers excellent communication skills, and has the following attributes:
- Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients and colleagues at all times.
- Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong IT and administration skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.

Lister House Surgery has strong clinical and administration support and excellent working relationships with our primary care network. List Size: 14,000 patients. SystmOne practice, users of Ardens and AccuRx. Excellent, modern purpose-built premises on a single site. Strong collaborative working with the 3 other practices in Hatfield Primary Care Network and wider GP Federation. Organised GP team consisting of 8 partners, 3 salaried GPs, and 2 registrars. Experienced nursing team including 1 nurse prescriber, 2 practice nurses & 1 HCA, with nurse led minor illness and chronic disease clinics. Training practice. Flexible session times to suit GP needs. Low home visit rate, supported by home visiting service. Excellent transport links to London. Willing to wait for the right candidate. ARRS support including social prescribers, pharmacist, pharmacist technician, physiotherapist, care co-ordinator, frailty nurse, mental health team and health and wellbeing coaches.
