Southend Medical Centre is looking for a motivated, organised and patient‑focused prescribing clerk, who can also provide some reception cover as part of our friendly team. This is a key role, supporting the smooth running of our practice and ensuring patients receive safe, timely and accurate prescription services. This role is offered on a full-time basis, for 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The 7.5‑hour shifts, which will be worked on a rota basis, are as follows:
- 08:00–16:30
- 10:00–18:30
You will work closely with our clinical and administrative teams to manage the day‑to‑day processing of prescriptions and support the reception desk when required. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of behind‑the‑scenes accuracy and front‑of‑house interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocols
- Liaising with GPs, pharmacists and patients to resolve medication queries
- Ensuring accurate data entry and maintaining patient records
- Supporting reception with patient enquiries, appointment booking and general administrative duties
- Managing workload effectively within a busy, fast‑paced environment
- Upholding confidentiality and high standards of patient care at all times
We are looking for a start date in mid-July 2026. We may close advert early if a suitable applicant is successful.
