Heacham Group Practice has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join our team on a part-time basis, for 20 hours per week covering maternity leave on a fixed term contract until February 2028. Ideally to start in November/December, the role would suit a skilled nurse who enjoys a broad clinical remit and has experience of family planning/HRT, cervical cytology and wound care.

Working as a key member of our nursing team, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to our practice population.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
  • Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients’ health and social care needs are met.
  • General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long term condition.
  • Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies and the practice needs.
  • Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice as well as national and practice protocols; working with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately, to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
  • Treatment room duties including cervical cytology, contraception and HRT, dressings and wound care and providing support to other colleagues. Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad.

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience as appropriate including cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, dressing and wound care.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work. The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.

Heacham Group Practice is a long-established, friendly GP Practice with two surgeries at Heacham and Snettisham providing excellent quality healthcare for approximately 7,600 patients.
Our clinical team includes two GP Partners, Salaried GPs, ANP and very skilled nursing team including Nurse Practitioner, specialist nurses and HCA's. We are supported by an experienced administrative team who work closely with our clinical team providing excellent patient care, along with a dedicated and supportive work environment. We work alongside a wide range of other healthcare professionals including Frailty Team, Social Prescriber, Mental Health Practitioners and Clinical Pharmacist through our PCN (Coastal PCN). We are proud to be a training practice for GP Registrars.
