The Humbleyard Practice is seeking a commercially minded Medicines Manager to lead our prescribing, medicines optimisation and dispensary business performance. This is a key leadership role focused on improving profitability, efficiency and sustainability of our dispensing operation alongside delivering safe, high-quality patient care. You will oversee dispensary operations, stock control, procurement and reimbursement processes, ensuring income is maximised and waste minimised. Working closely with the Business Manager and GP Partners, you will drive performance across prescribing and dispensing, including delivery of schemes such as PQS and optimisation of prescribing spend. The postholder will take a lead role in identifying income opportunities, improving processes, strengthening financial controls and using data to drive better business outcomes, while maintaining full compliance with medicines governance and CQC standards.
This role is ideal for a dispenser, pharmacy technician or manager who understands both the operational and commercial aspects of dispensing. You will bring:
- Experience in dispensary, pharmacy or medicines management operations
- Strong awareness of cost control, stock management, reimbursement and profitability drivers
- Ability to analyse data and turn insight into financial and operational improvements
- Proven experience of leading teams and improving performance
- Confidence working with clinicians to influence prescribing and reduce waste
You will be proactive, financially aware and motivated to deliver measurable improvements to both service quality and business performance.
We are a large, progressive dispensing practice serving 22,500 patients across three sites, with a strong focus on efficiency, sustainability and continuous improvement.
