Newport Pagnell Medical Centre are seeking an MSK Employment Advisor to join our team on a part‑time basis for 30 hours per week on a 12 month fixed‑term contract. This position is key within our team and will use a person‑centred approach, valuing each individual's unique background, strengths and aspirations, including those gained through lived experience, to produce action plans and support positive employment outcomes. Training will be given to help support and embed the role.

Main duties of the job:

  • Work with patients who are unemployed and/or have challenges with their current employment.
  • Encourage them to recognise the importance of productive work to good mental health and to help them plan a route into meaningful activity and employment.
  • Caseload management.
  • Primary care integration – working closely with clinicians and the MDT team to give support to individuals.
  • Employment support – provide coaching, careers guidance, CV building, interview technique.
  • Health and wellbeing promotion.
  • Service promotion and development.
  • Administration and data management.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to assess individual strengths in relation to employment and adapt activities to be appropriate for the individual.
  • Ability to build rapport and strong relationships.
  • Ability to use own lived experiences where appropriate.
  • Ability to collect and report data.
  • Ability to negotiate with employers on behalf of service users.
  • Excellent IT skills and previous experience of working with databases.
  • Understanding of data protection and information security.
