Vida Healthcare are seeking an experienced Prescribing Clerk to join their busy team on a part-time basis for 16 hours per week, working afternoons only, Monday to Thursday (1pm-5pm). You will be required to work onsite and across our other sites in Dersingham, Kings Lynn and Hunstanton. Candidates must be able to cover extra hours - annual leave and sickness on short notice.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Searching and processing repeat prescription requests and queries regarding requests for acute medications.
- Identifying specials and high quantities on prescriptions.
- Seeking alternative medications – for unavailable/shortages/discontinuations, etc.
- Switching medications to most cost-effective brands in line with local and national Medicines Optimisation Policies.
- Monitoring and reviewing prescribing of OTC and low value medications.
- Aligning quantities.
- Synchronising meds.
- Carrying out medicine’s reconciliation for complex hospital discharges and patients with multiple medication changes.
- Implementing response to MHRA safety alerts where appropriate.
- Identifying new dispensing patients.
- Identifying medication review patients.
- Supporting with prescribing/dispensing policies/SOPs.
- Handling high risk drug requests.
- Supporting the care homes with medication queries, ordering processes and medicines waste.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience working within a similar position.
- Healthcare experience with knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage.
- Be aware of information governance standards and policies.
- Be flexible, with a positive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrate an excellent standard of patient care.
