Holbrook and Shotley Practice located in Ipswich, have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced ECPs/paramedics to join their established team, on a full-time basis, or as two part-time positions. Please apply to discuss.

The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, as you work alongside fellow professionals within the practice in support of one another.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Urgently respond to referrals and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact by attending to patients, according to patients’ needs either in the practice or patient homes.
  • Support, and continue the development of, an on-the-day emergency patient service in the practice.
  • Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in both emergency situations and telephone triage, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history.
  • Evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking, and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral.
  • Review the effectiveness of the treatment provided, making changes where necessary to improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in an efficient manner.

About the Candidate

If you are an experienced emergency care practitioner/paramedic wanting a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care.
  • Have completed ENP/ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be an ALS/APLS provider.
  • Be able to effectively assess, plan, treat and refer patients.
  • Be able to evaluate patient care confidently.
  • Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Have the ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively.
  • Understanding of the need to work within the parameters of one's own training and capability, according to the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working.
  • Can demonstrate a broad and sound knowledge of complex and common conditions in primary care in both adults and children.

The Holbrook and Shotley Practice is a GP Practice across two surgery sites. We pride ourselves on providing a high standard of care to our 8000 patients. Our practice team comprises of three GP Partners, two salaried GPs, supported by a highly experienced team of nurses, dispensers, paramedics, and reception team.
