Embrace Medical Centre in Ipswich is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a locum practice nurse to join our friendly and expanding team for a 12 month fixed term contract. This is offered on a full or part-time basis and days and hours can be discussed at interview.
Responsibilities:
- Providing clinical care in the treatment room including wound care, injections and immunisations.
- Supporting the management of long‑term conditions such as diabetes, asthma and hypertension.
- Performing routine health checks, screenings and vaccinations.
- Working collaboratively with the lead practice nurse, GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Contributing to the development and improvement of primary care services in response to increasing demand.
Please note this position will involve working arrangements across Embrace Medical Centre and Martlesham Heath Surgery. As part of our joint partnership both practices are operated by the same GP Partners and Management Team. The surgeries are located approximately 2 miles apart (around a 5‑10 minute drive depending on traffic) ensuring close collaboration and easy access between sites.
About the Candidate
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or an approved nursing qualification.
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Current professional registration and eligibility to practice in the UK.
- Experience working in general practice or a primary care setting.
- Excellent knowledge of core nursing practice and patient care principles.
- Skilled in managing long‑term conditions (e.g. diabetes, asthma, hypertension).
- Experience providing immunisations, health checks and routine treatment room procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to manage own workload and work autonomously under supervision.
- Empathy, sensitivity and professionalism in patient care.
Desirable:
- Non‑medical prescribing qualification (level 6 or 7) for health care professionals.
- Additional qualifications in areas such as immunisation, wound care or long‑term condition management.
- Specialism in areas such as but not limited to respiratory, cardiovascular, diabetes.
- Experience with health promotion, patient education and chronic disease management programmes.
