The Holbrook and Shotley Practice are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and experienced Lead Receptionist to join our friendly and busy GP practice on a full-time basis. (37.5 hours per week)
This is an important role within the practice, providing day-to-day leadership and support to the reception team while ensuring that patients receive a welcoming, professional and efficient service.
As Lead Receptionist, you will be responsible for helping to coordinate the reception team and ensuring that the front-of-house function runs smoothly. You will act as a key point of contact for reception staff, supporting them with queries, managing workloads and helping to maintain high standards of patient service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to the reception team.
- Coordinating reception duties and ensuring appropriate cover is maintained.
- Supporting the Practice Manager and wider management team with the smooth running of the practice.
- Helping to train and induct new reception staff.
- Monitoring and maintaining high standards of customer service and confidentiality.
- Dealing confidently and sensitively with patient queries, concerns and challenging situations.
- Supporting the team with appointment booking, telephone enquiries and other administrative duties.
- Ensuring practice procedures and protocols are followed consistently.
- Identifying areas where processes could be improved and helping to implement changes.
- Supporting staff with day-to-day problems and escalating issues appropriately.
- Helping to promote effective communication between reception, clinicians and the wider practice team.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate good judgement, initiative and discretion, together with the ability to support colleagues while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
