Old Road Medical Practice is looking to welcome a healthcare assistant to their busy team on a part-time basis, for 22.5 days per week. Working days to be confirmed. The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Main duties of the job:
- Blood pressure recording.
- ECG recording.
- Wound care.
- Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
- Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
- Act as a chaperone where required.
- Assist GP during the performance of minor operations.
- Communicate with patients, relatives and carers, including providing valuable health promotion and education.
- New patient health checks.
- Diabetic part 1 checks.

Person Specification:
The healthcare assistant role within general practice can be very different to the role within other settings and as such we are only looking for applications from those with previous primary care experience.
Essential knowledge, skills and experience:
- Experience of working within a GP practice. Please do not apply without this.
- Strong clinical skills including venepuncture/phlebotomy.
- Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidential manner with a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently, determining own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
All applicants should ensure that they live within reasonable commuting distance.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC.
- Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
