Green Elms Health Centre in Jaywick is looking to welcome an experienced phlebotomist into our busy practice to support our nursing team for 15 hours per week. Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team, the post-holder will be responsible for performing tasks to include:

  • Assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
  • Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples.
  • Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
  • Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request and confirming with the patient whenever possible.
  • Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.
  • Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues.
  • Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

About the Candidate

If you are an experienced phlebotomist looking for a new challenge we would love to hear from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care preferred.
  • Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting ideally within primary care.
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes.
  • Consistently confidential, compassionate and respectful approach placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to understand the needs of the patient.
  • Strength in problem-solving with the ability to process information accurately and effectively interpreting data as required.
  • Flexibility and an adaptable approach.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Ranworth Primary Care Network is comprised of Caradoc Surgery, Ranworth Surgery in Clacton-on-Sea, Green Elms Health Centre in Jaywick and Kennedy Way Medical Centre in Holland on Sea. We have a diverse patient population of around 32,000 and all practices work on SystmOne.
