Ambrose Avenue has an opportunity for a prescription clerk to join our busy prescribing team, at the heart of our patient care service. This role is offered on a part-time basis, for 15 hours per week over 3 days.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
  • Ensuring that requests for repeat prescriptions are actioned within 72 hours. This includes checking email requests and involves a rota system to cover the collection and drop off of all prescriptions from each site.
  • Responding to all queries and requests from chemists, nursing homes and district nurses, regarding the issue of prescriptions.
  • Keeping repeat prescription information up-to-date in the patient journal, such as letters and doctors' requests.
  • Sending out review letters.
  • Organising blood tests (through ICE system) or blood pressure checks for patients, relevant to their prescribing needs.
  • Prescribing Incentive Scheme – issue reports and letters, working around any guidelines issued to ensure budget reductions where possible.
  • Medicine management – liaising and discussing any enquires or queries raised by the clinical team.
  • General ad hoc administration work.
  • Flexibility to cover other areas when required – multi-skill mix.
  • Keep up-to-date with all prescribing guidelines and protocols, relevant to the position.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will:

  • have experience with working as a prescription clerk
  • possess experience of working in a busy, public environment.
  • be flexible, with a positive attitude.
  • demonstrate good team working and communication skills.
  • demonstrate an excellent standard of patient care.

General practice experience and knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage.
