Wootton Vale and Shortstown Surgery is a forward-thinking, innovative practice looking to recruit a GP assistant/healthcare coordinator to join their dynamic team on a full or part-time basis, depending on experience. Although this is a permanent position, we will consider flexible contract options.
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate a talent for helping our patients to achieve the best clinical outcome and who is looking to build a career in the healthcare sector. There is opportunity to progress, learning new skills and achieving GPA accreditation and for those already accredited the opportunity to develop further. Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours, to cover for colleagues.
Main duties of the job:
- Manage referrals via the appropriate system for clinicians.
- Follow up referrals if required.
- Co-ordinate the referral process and ensure all referrals are received.
- Respond to patient enquiries and speak with them where required.
- Draft letters for clinicians where appropriate.
- Co-ordinate birthday QOF reviews for all long-term conditions.
- Generate ICE forms for all blood tests.
- Generate invites and co-ordinate booking of appointments for these reviews.
- Arrange home visits for housebound patients.
- Maintain obesity register.
- Responsibility for project managing the seasonal influenza programme.
We are a friendly surgery with a list size of over 18,000 patients, over two sites, Wootton Vale, (MK43 9JJ), and branch site Shortstown Surgery, (MK42 0GS). We have good appointment access, which translates to happy patients, and a strong teamwork ethos, that includes an established clinical pharmacy team, GPs, nurses, physician associates, clinical liaison and admin teams. We are also a tier-2 sponsoring practice and would support any applicants requiring a tier 2 visa.
Our practice ethos is to provide traditional levels of patient care and friendliness, through innovation, supported by the latest technology. We work closely with our community partners and with the other GP practices within our primary care network.
Person Specification:
- Experienced GPA in a GP practice.
- Experienced in medical administration, with primary care experience.
- Organised, self-motivated, and a care-driven individual.
- Excellent IT skills, including previous experience of Microsoft Office packages and patient information systems being desirable.
- Adaptable, friendly, and self-motivated, with strong administration, time-management, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communicators, who work in a confidential and discreet manner and can think on their feet.
- Able to multi-task, work hard and maintain high level of attention to detail when under pressure.
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as being comfortable working independently.
