Langdon Hills Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join the practice, and support the nursing team, on a full or part-time basis, for at least 25 hours per week.

Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse, and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

The healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas such as:

  • wound care
  • venepuncture
  • phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines
  • new patient health checks
  • re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines
  • clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
  • providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers

About the Candidate

If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant or looking to develop your primary care experience, we would love to hear from you.

Essential:

  • Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills

Desirable:

  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC
  • Experience of working within a GP practice
  • A qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture

Langdon Hills Medical Centre is an innovative, well organised and forward-thinking GMS training practice. We have a practice population of 14,500 patients, with a growing list size.
