We are looking for a Quality Matron to support and lead two care homes with the provision of Registered Nurses and the delivery of high-quality care to residents. The role also involves providing direct patient care as required.

Salary: £53,755.00 - £55,000.00 DOE.

Location & Contract: Brushwood and Millvina Care Homes with travel to other community sites and Wavertree. Permanent contract.

Shifts: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (7.5 hours per day). Some weekend work and unsociable hours may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with Local Authorities and encompass leadership, education, development, quality improvement and management of the nursing teams within the care homes.
  • Support the division with input to quality improvement initiatives and rollout of the internal accreditation programme.
  • Provide on-site support to complete initial assessments of current provision, collaborate with the local authority and ensure compliance with CQC regulations.
  • Identify gaps in service provision, develop and implement improvement plans.
  • Investigate and manage complaints and quality concerns, ensuring adult safeguarding policies and procedures align with PC24 and Local Authority requirements.
  • Ensure a robust incident reporting system is in place, escalating and providing feedback as necessary.
  • Prioritise team workload and oversee staffing requirements across both units to meet safe staffing guidelines.
  • Ensure Safety Huddles take place and be visibly present to support and manage all aspects of people management for direct reports (absence management, performance management, objective setting and training).
  • Train and educate care home staff in matters relating to quality and patient safety to ensure they have the correct skills and competencies.
  • Recognise early signs of patient deterioration and manage escalations into established care pathways.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of all key aspects of the role, including interpretation and implementation of policies.
  • Support Operational Managers to produce relevant KPIs in relation to patient experience, safety and the effectiveness of care for presentations and ICB meetings.
  • Provide advice, guidance and up-to-date information for families, careers and the wider MDT.
  • Oversee and review admission criteria/eligibility in relation to patient dependency tools and available staffing resources.
  • Involve and support Nurse Recruitment to ensure safe staffing principles are adhered to.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 1st level Registered Nurse with a valid PIN.
  • Degree or demonstrable relevant experience.
  • Evidence of further education/CPD.
  • Experience of working in elderly care/community setting/Local Authority.
  • Extensive experience working in a community bedded area – care homes, intermediate care beds.
  • Clinical leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate and motivate teams.
